He uses money to control me

I agreed to be a stay-at-home wife because that’s what my husband wanted he handles the bills, and I take care of our home, our dogs, and even his paralyzed brother who lives with us. I do everything I can to keep our life running smoothly, but lately I feel like he sees me as “less than” just because he earns the paycheck.

This morning, I thanked him for supporting us financially and he laughed, saying, “Without me, this house would be in shambles.” When I tried to walk away to cool off, he followed and said, “Don’t ever walk away from me again, or I’ll take away the car, the phone, and your cards.”

It broke something in me. I’m not lazy. I work all day, just in a different way. But every argument turns into him reminding me that everything I use belongs to him.

Is it wrong that I’m starting to feel disgusted not just by how he talks to me, but by how he uses money to control me?

You take care of his paralyzed brother too? People get paid to be caregivers to disabled people. You are being emotionally abused and taken advantage of. This is not an equal relationship.

If you have kids get a lawyer. Tell him he has been threatening you and you feel scared. If you divorce he has to pay you alimony till you get a job. Then he has to pay child support. May it direct deposit so it comes out of his paycheck before he gets it.
