Children and the Paranormal by Amanda APS

Children and the Paranormal by Amanda APS

Revised 2025

Firstly, I’d like to say this: if your child is telling you they’re seeing a spirit/ghost, or other entities, stop what you’re doing, sit down and listen to them. They need your attention, they need to be heard, and if they have told you something is happening or they’re experiencing seeing or hearing things, believe me, they’re looking at you for answers and help and most of all acceptance. They’re confused, frightened and need help to find out what exactly is happening to them.

How do I know this?

Well, that’s a simple question for me, I was a child who grew up from the age of three with the sight with absolutely zero help, nurturing or support. It took me years to understand that being a psychic is not a condition, it’s a gift from God, and it’s an incredible gift. I was made to feel small and unimportant. I grew up with the sight. I was different to other children. It was an awful time to be alive. I hated myself. When no one wants to believe in you or accept you, you feel worthless and small. The entire ordeal of growing up with the sight and seeing spirits and ghosts left me fragile. So, listen to your kids. They’re number one. They need you.

I made a promise to my babies and all children that I am a safe space to share paranormal experiences with.

As I grew up, I always said that I’d help as many kids as I could. Luckily, I had this mindset as my three sons “ALL” have the sight the same as their mum and dad. This was extremely overwhelming for them with school, puberty, and the stresses and pressures from school, friends and everyday life. My boys needed my love and support. For Bill and I, we nurtured our children’s gifts, so they grew up as strong, healthy adults. That’s all that matters to me and Bill. That our children have a full and happy life, and knowing they have the sight of spirit makes them extra special in our eyes.

Children have fresh eyes like the butterflies

Children aren’t contaminated by the world and everyone telling them what to believe and what not to believe, and most importantly, what they must be. Children have so much pressure from parents and outside forces that adults forget these little people need our guidance, but most importantly, these are little people also need to be themselves with their own experiences and thoughts.

They don’t have blinkers on their eyes, and that’s what is so innocent and amazing. Children experiencing the paranormal they see so much, so be careful not to shut down their self-esteem and their gift. Spend time with them, support them and mostly give them a journal to write down their dreams and experiences with spirit, as it empowers children to be open about their feelings and what they’re seeing and experiencing.

Things to help gifted children at night:

1/ Give them a torch and make sure they have a good night light it gives them less anxiety when it becomes dark.

2/ Sometimes playing gentle, soft music or the sounds of the ocean and waves can help settle the child to sleep.

3/ Purchase a spray bottle for your child to fall asleep with moon water or holy water and tell them to spray it around their bed and room if they feel frightened.

4/ Teach them to ask for protection through prayer or blessings, or whatever your faith is. This gives the child power if ghosts are not so nice.

5/ Purchase books on the paranormal, true stories, paranormal protection, a broad range of paranormal topics, etc, so your child and you can educate yourselves. Make it a family thing to do by sitting down and talking about other people who have experienced, along with what they’re experiencing. Always keep an open mind.

Most importantly. Not everything your child is experiencing is paranormal. This is vital to understand.

Not everything that goes bump in the night is paranormal, and children will soon learn this with guidance and understanding, along with education. You can always seek guidance from an experienced paranormal researcher. Make sure they have been in the paranormal field for a long time and have real experience. Do your homework.

Not everything is paranormal, and kids can mix up imagination, dreams and children’s play with reality. If you’re finding this is bringing serious issues for the child, please speak to a psychologist who specifically specialises with children and the paranormal (yes, they do exist). An open-minded individual who has balance, who won’t just medicate your child, classifying them as unwell, but an individual who will see all sides of what the child is experiencing, this is vital. Someone who will see the scales equally without prejudice or judgment.

Document everything, teach your child to write down everything they experience. If the child can’t write, ask them to speak to you in detail about anything paranormal they experience and sit down and talk with them in regards to this experience.
