Tesla camping 🏕

Oh my gosh, you guys! Car camping in my Tesla Model Y has been a total game-changer. I just got back from an amazing trip to a state park in Texas, and I wanted to share some of my favorite setup tips to make your adventure as smooth and comfy as mine was. It's truly incredible how versatile these cars are for overnight stays! First off, getting your sleeping situation right is key. I invested in a custom-fit inflatable mattress for the back of my Model Y, and it makes such a huge difference. It fills the space perfectly when the seats are folded down, giving you a surprisingly spacious and flat sleeping area. Don't forget cozy bedding – a thick sleeping bag or a couple of blankets and pillows will make it feel like a real bed. Some people even bring blackout window covers, which are fantastic for privacy and blocking out that early morning sun, especially if you're at a dry campsite like the one I found with a lovely metal fire pit. Another thing I absolutely love about Tesla camping is "Camp Mode." If you haven't tried it, you're missing out! It keeps the climate control running, the interior lights on (or off, your choice!), and you can even stream entertainment. It’s perfect for keeping warm or cool no matter the weather, and it barely sips from your battery overnight. I also bring a portable power station as a backup for smaller devices, but honestly, the car's USB ports and outlets handle most of my charging needs. Now, let's talk about expanding your space, especially if you're traveling with a partner or just want more room to stand up and move around. This is where a good car camping tent comes in handy! There are some fantastic options out there designed specifically to attach to the rear hatch of your Tesla Model Y. These "campingtelt til bil" (car tents for your car) essentially create an extra room right off your vehicle. I've seen some setups that offer full standing height, which is a luxury when you're used to crawling into a traditional tent. They provide a sheltered area for cooking, changing, or just chilling out away from bugs, while still keeping your sleeping area in the car separate and secure. It’s like having a mini RV without the huge cost! For cooking, I always pack a small portable propane stove. It’s great for making coffee in the morning or heating up a quick meal. Don't forget a good cooler to keep your food fresh, especially in the Texas heat. And lighting is crucial – a headlamp is a must, but I also love to hang some LED string lights inside the car for a cozy ambiance. Before you head out, always plan your route and know where the charging stations are. It gives you so much peace of mind. Check the weather, too; while my white Tesla Model Y handles most conditions, being prepared for anything from a sunny day to a sudden downpour is smart. And please, please, remember to leave no trace! Pack out everything you pack in, and respect the beautiful natural surroundings of our state parks.
