Life Lately + My Blind Spots
By Amber Janelle pod host of Amber's Narrative
I had a birthday recently.
And you know what?
It actually turned out to be a beautiful day.
I felt loved, I felt seen, and I was truly grateful for the moment.
But leading up to that day? Whew… it was heavy.
I couldn’t shake this quiet pressure—the kind that creeps in when you start measuring your current life against the one you thought you’d have by now.
The days before my birthday were filled with reflection. Some good. Some hard. All necessary.
And just when I thought I was keeping it together,
I had a conversation with ChatGPT , I asked chat gpt based off our interactions what are some my blind spots in life.
What Are Blind Spots?
Here’s what I’m learning:
Blind spots aren’t always about what we can’t see.
Sometimes, they’re the parts of us we refuse to see because they challenge the story we’ve been telling ourselves.
My blind spots look like:
Believing I’m not talented enough to build a dream
Thinking rest is laziness
Feeling like I have to prove my worth by doing more
Shrinking so others feel comfortable
These blind spots have shaped the way I show up in my life.
But the truth is, I’m not behind.
I’m in process.
And every day that I show up—even with shaky hands and a tired heart—is a day I’m making progress.
If You’re Feeling the Same…
Maybe you’re walking through your own quiet season of reflection.
Maybe you’ve had a birthday, a milestone, or just a moment where you paused and thought, “How did I get here?”
If so—this episode is for you.
I want you to know that your blind spots don’t define you. They don’t disqualify you. They just need your attention. Your honesty. And your healing.
This episode of Amber’s Narrative wasn’t polished or planned.
It was me showing up in real time, sharing my heart, my thoughts, and the emotional messiness that came before my beautiful birthday.
And it reminded me of this truth I want you to carry with you:
You can be grateful for your life and still want more.
You can celebrate yourself while still healing.
You can feel overwhelmed and still be exactly where you’re meant to be.

In our fast-paced lives, moments of reflection can reveal significant insights about ourselves. Blind spots often hinder our ability to move forward, yet acknowledging them opens avenues for growth. Many people experience the pressure of unmet expectations as they navigate life transitions, especially on birthdays or significant milestones. This emotional pressure can lead to self-doubt, often illustrated through feelings of inadequacy or the need to prove ourselves. It’s essential to recognize that these feelings are common, and embracing vulnerability can transform our outlook. Taking the time to understand what we need—whether it be rest or affirmation—can aid us in our journeys. Conversations about self-discovery are vital, shedding light on how we can honor both our achievements and aspirations simultaneously. If you’re grappling with similar thoughts, remember: acknowledging your experiences, no matter how messy, is a step toward healing.
