PURPLE SHAMPOO & CONDITIONER REVIEW PT 1💜

FOR THE BLONDES 👱‍♀️

Gonna start reviewing purple shampoos & conditioners and other toning products since I literally try them all.

💜

Today I tried the MOROCCANOIL Blonde Perfecting Purple Shampoo & Conditioner. I was pleased with the smell and how it did not leave my hair feeling dry.

💜

In regard to toning and removing brass in my hair, I would say it did an okay job. These products are not very pigmented, which was nice in the respect that it didn’t turn my hair purple, but as you can see there isn’t a drastic difference in the before and after photos. That being said, if this product was used regularly I’m sure it would do a good job at neutralizing yellow tones as they appear. However I prefer to use a more stronger and more purple pigmented toning shampoo and conditioner in my hair, being that it gets brassy easily, so this product wasn’t a total win for me.

💜

I would give this product a 3 out of 5 stars. I am going to keep using it up til it’s gone but probably won’t repurchase.

DISCLAIMER: I was gifted these products for free by MOROCCANOIL however all my opinions are completely genuine and honest🩷

... Read moreAs a fellow blonde always battling brassiness, I totally get the quest for the perfect purple shampoo and conditioner! After reviewing the Moroccanoil Blonde Perfecting line, I wanted to dive a little deeper into some common questions we blondes often have about toning our hair. It's not just about finding a product; it's about understanding how to use it for the best 'before and after' results. First off, let's talk about the magic behind purple products for blonde hair. If you've ever wondered why it's purple and not, say, green, it all comes down to color theory! Purple is directly opposite yellow on the color wheel. This means that when you apply a purple pigment to yellow tones in your blonde hair, they cancel each other out. This neutralizes those unwanted yellow, brassy hues, leaving you with a cooler, brighter blonde. It's a lifesaver for maintaining that salon-fresh look between appointments! One of the most frequently asked questions I hear is, 'How long should I leave purple shampoo in my hair?' This is crucial because leaving it on too long can sometimes lead to a slight purple tint, especially if your hair is very porous or light. For a product like the Moroccanoil Blonde Perfecting Purple Shampoo, which I found to be less pigmented, you might need to leave it on a bit longer than a super-concentrated formula – perhaps 3-5 minutes for a subtle tone correction. If you're using a stronger purple shampoo, I usually recommend starting with 1-2 minutes and then rinsing to see the effect. You can always reapply for another minute if needed. Always make sure to distribute it evenly through damp hair, focusing on the brassiest areas. And remember, pairing it with a good conditioner, like the Moroccanoil Blonde Perfecting Purple Conditioner, helps seal the cuticle and adds moisture back in, preventing dryness. Another hot topic is 'blue vs. purple shampoo for blondes.' While both are toners, they target different undertones. Purple shampoo, as we discussed, is for yellow brassiness. Blue shampoo, on the other hand, is designed to neutralize orange tones. If your blonde hair is pulling more orange-gold than yellow, a blue shampoo might be your better bet. Many blondes, myself included, experience more yellowing, so purple is often the go-to. However, if you have darker blonde or balayage where underlying orange tones might peek through, consider a blue option or even alternating between the two. To really maximize your toning efforts, especially with a milder product like Moroccanoil, consistency is key. Using it regularly, as the article suggested, can prevent brassiness from building up in the first place. I also find that clarifying my hair occasionally helps remove product buildup that can make hair appear dull and brassy. After shampooing, I make sure to really massage the purple product into my hair, making sure every strand that needs toning gets some love. Then, following up with a moisturizing conditioner is non-negotiable to keep my blonde hair healthy and shiny. Beyond just purple toning, maintaining vibrant blonde hair involves a holistic approach. Heat protectants are your best friend to prevent damage that can lead to brassiness. UV protection sprays are also great, especially if you spend a lot of time in the sun. And don't forget deep conditioning treatments once a week to keep your locks soft and strong. Ultimately, finding the right routine that keeps your blonde bright and beautiful is a journey, and trying different products and techniques, like those before and after photos we love to see, helps you discover what works best for your unique hair! Keep experimenting, and your blonde will thank you.
