August Nightstand TBR
Update for July’s Nightstand TBR- I finished 4 and am part way through 3 of the other books I selected last month. I’m carrying over F1 and pausing Last Twilight in Paris. Undecided if I’m dnf-ing Invinsible Life of Addie LaRue or revisiting it in October.
I have been loving the scaled down version of my TBR and separating out books from my collection that I think will actually get read.
I am a mood reader so it’s not a hard and fast list for but based on what I’m feeling or passionate about at the time.
At this point in August I have started 3 of the physical TBR books (last photo) F1 The Ultimate Companion by Bruce Jones, The Atlas Six by Olivie Blake, and The Body Keeps the Score.
The neighborhood book club is reading One Golden Summer by Carly Fortune this month. The other book club is reading Shadow Divers, I’m choosing to listen to in and am 9% in.
Of course I have a number of digital arcs to read this month as well 😅.
What are you reading this month?
The August Nightstand TBR reflects a thoughtful and mood-driven approach to reading, showcasing a carefully curated selection of books from diverse genres. Among the key titles are 'The Ultimate Companion' by Bruce Jones, an engaging work tied to the F1 racing theme; 'The Atlas Six' by Olivie Blake, a popular fantasy novel renowned for its intricate plot and complex characters; and 'The Body Keeps the Score' by Bessel van der Kolk, M.D., a seminal book on trauma and healing that connects brain, mind, and body. Bessel van der Kolk’s 'The Body Keeps the Score' is highly regarded for its scientific and empathetic exploration of how trauma affects the body and mind, offering transformative insights into healing through innovative therapies. This book provides valuable knowledge for readers interested in psychology, trauma recovery, and mental health. The reading list also includes engaging book club picks: 'One Golden Summer' by Carly Fortune and 'Shadow Divers,' the latter listened to as an audiobook. These choices highlight the social and communal aspect of reading, demonstrating how shared experiences through book clubs enrich understanding and enjoyment. Digital ARCs (Advance Reader Copies) represent an exciting part of the modern reading experience, allowing readers access to upcoming releases and fresh voices in literature before official publication. The author’s mindfulness in selecting a scaled-down, manageable TBR emphasizes quality and personal engagement with books, which aligns well with mood reading—a flexible and intuitive approach fostering deeper passion and connection. Overall, this August Nightstand TBR offers a blend of thrilling fiction, scientific discourse, and community reading experiences, fostering a vibrant and enriching reading month. Readers are encouraged to reflect on their own moods and interests when curating their TBR (To Be Read) lists, creating personalized journeys that deepen literary appreciation and growth.
