It's not just about acquiring cards; it's about envisioning new deck strategies, finding those perfect pieces to elevate your game, and appreciating the incredible art and lore. I wanted to share some of my absolute dream cards that I'm hoping to add to my collection soon!
First up, a truly iconic instant that's high on almost every serious player's list: Vampiric Tutor. This card is an absolute powerhouse, allowing you to instantly search your library for any card and put it on top, at the cost of just two life. Its flexibility is unmatched – whether you need a crucial combo piece, a board wipe to save yourself, or a game-winning finisher, Vampiric Tutor finds it. The version I'm particularly eyeing is the one with the stunning Raymond Swanland art, which truly captures the dark, mystical essence of the spell. At around $56.16, it's an investment, but one that drastically improves consistency and power in any deck. I can picture using it to fetch a specific answer right before my turn, perfectly setting up my next play!
Next, from the incredibly popular Lord of the Rings set, I'm really keen on Legolas, Counter of Kills. As a Legendary Creature – Elf Archer, it brings a lot of utility for its remarkably low price point of just $0.27. I love that it has Reach, making it a solid blocker against flying threats. What truly excites me about Legolas, though, is its ability to untap whenever you scry. This opens up so many interesting synergies, especially in decks that focus on manipulating the top of their library or have a lot of scry effects. Plus, gaining +1/+1 counters means it can become a real threat over time. It just seems like a fun, flavorful, and budget-friendly addition for an Elf tribal or even a scry-focused Commander deck.
Beyond these two, my wishlist definitely includes some other fantastic creatures. Kaalia of the Vast is a legendary Human Cleric that absolutely dominates the battlefield with Flying. Her ability to put Angel, Demon, or Dragon cards directly onto the battlefield when she attacks is just incredible, making her a formidable Commander. At $44.07, she's another high-value target that can lead to explosive turns. Imagine dropping a huge demon or dragon for free!
And for my vampire enthusiasts, Dracula the Voyager, also known as Edgar, Charmed Groom, from Innistrad: Crimson Vow, is a must-have. This Legendary Creature – Vampire Noble grants other Vampires +1/+1 and even transforms upon death, giving you more value. Priced at $8.62, it's a fantastic piece for any Vampire tribal Commander deck, offering both anthem effects and resilience.
Building an MTG collection is a journey, and compiling a wishlist is a big part of the fun. It’s about setting goals, exploring new cards, and finding those perfect additions that spark joy and enhance your gameplay. What cards are on your current Magic: The Gathering wishlist? I'd love to hear about them!
