Yesterday I had the honor of capturing my sweet Abbey’s special day! Abbey was one of the girls in my last cabin I counseled at Camp Utopia, almost 10 years ago! I’ve kept up with her via socials ever since and when I saw she was official with Parker, my heart was thrilled for her! Then when she reached out about getting engaged I was OVERJOYED! To capture their big day was truly a honor! It’s not super detailed but here’s a little look into a travel wedding day with me! ❤️😘 #weddingphotographer #dayinthelife #photographer #travelphotographer #bts
As a travel wedding photographer, each destination brings its own unique charm and set of challenges. Capturing Abbey’s special day reminded me how crucial it is to connect personally with the couple to truly reflect their story through images. Having known Abbey since our days at Camp Utopia, this shoot was more than just photography—it was a celebration of a deep friendship and milestone moment. On the day of the wedding, being adaptable was key. Weather, lighting, and venue setups can vary widely when you’re shooting on location. I always prepare a versatile gear kit and scout the venue ahead of time when possible. This way, I ensure I’m ready to capture every candid smile and heartfelt glance. Traveling with photography equipment requires careful packing and planning. Protecting expensive gear and having backups for critical items like batteries and memory cards can’t be overlooked. Despite the logistical concerns, the joy of documenting a love story in a meaningful place makes it all worthwhile. The emotional connection between the couple often guides my shots. With Abbey and Parker, their genuine happiness and excitement made for truly beautiful moments. I strive to capture not only posed portraits but also spontaneous, behind-the-scenes glimpses that tell the full story of the day. Reflecting on this experience reinforces why I love being a travel photographer. It’s not just about the destination or the perfect shot, but about honoring relationships, milestones, and memories that last a lifetime. If you’re considering hiring a wedding photographer for a destination or travel wedding, my advice is to choose someone who values storytelling and connection as much as technical skill. The best photos come from moments filled with emotion, and that’s what I aim to deliver in every shoot.
