Okay, so I'm totally hooked on Shameless, but I'm only on season 2, which makes this even more fun – I'm doing a blind ranking of the characters based purely on what I've seen so far! No spoilers, please! It's crazy how much has happened already, and these characters are just... something else. Let's dive into my current top and bottom picks from the Gallagher clan and their associates. Remember, this is just my early take, and I know things can change drastically in this show! Top-Tier Favorites (So Far!): Ian Gallagher: Seriously, Ian is quickly becoming my favorite. He's got such a quiet strength, and I feel like he's always trying to do the right thing, even when it's messy. His storyline with Mickey is so compelling, and he just seems like the most genuine one. He’s trying to figure himself out amidst all the chaos, and I really root for him. Lip Gallagher: Lip is incredibly smart, almost too smart for his own good sometimes. He's got that protective older brother vibe, and he's constantly trying to keep the family afloat, even if his methods are questionable. I love his quick wit and how he navigates his academic potential with the realities of his life on the South Side. He's complex and always keeps me guessing. Fiona Gallagher: Fiona is a powerhouse. She's basically raising everyone, and the sacrifices she makes are insane. It's hard not to admire her resilience, even when she makes mistakes (and she definitely makes a lot!). She's fiercely loyal, and you can see how much she loves her siblings. Watching her try to balance her own life with being the family matriarch is exhausting just to watch, but she's a survivor. Middle Ground / Still Deciding: Carl Gallagher: Carl is a wild card right now. He's definitely mischievous and a bit unsettling with some of his antics, but there's a part of me that thinks he's just acting out because of everything around him. I'm curious to see how his character develops because there are glimpses of something more underneath the troublemaking. He’s definitely memorable, that’s for sure! Debbie Gallagher: Debbie starts off seeming so sweet and innocent, but goodness, she's already showing signs of being incredibly manipulative. It's fascinating to watch her evolve from the seemingly responsible little sister to someone who knows how to get what she wants. She's definitely not as innocent as she seems, and I'm a bit wary, but also intrigued. Bottom-Tier (For Now, Anyway): Frank Gallagher: Honestly, does this even need an explanation? Frank is just... Frank. He's a complete disaster, a selfish alcoholic who constantly lets his family down. While he provides some dark humor, his actions are consistently infuriating. He's the source of so much pain and trouble, and I keep hoping for some genuine redemption arc, but I'm not holding my breath based on what I've seen. He’s definitely the one I love to hate. So, that's my blind ranking of the Shameless characters based on my season 2 watch-through! It’s wild watching all the drama unfold.
