how do i stop overthinking everything?
honestly? I’m still working on this one myself. but the biggest lesson I’ve learned is to focus on what is in my control vs. what’s out of my control.
for example, I paid WAY too much attention to what everyone around me could possibly be thinking. Just this generalized fear of being perceived, period. it was draining! it's gotten so much better since I realized that I will never be able to control what others think, so wouldn't that energy be better spent toward meeting my own standards?

Overthinking is a common struggle that affects many people, often leading to anxiety and stress. Understanding the psychology behind overthinking can help you combat it effectively. One effective strategy is mindfulness, which allows you to stay present and focus on the here and now, reducing the tendency to ruminate on negative thoughts. Techniques such as journaling can also provide an outlet for your thoughts, helping to organize and clarify them. It's vital to cultivate self-compassion, as harsh self-judgment can perpetuate negative cycles of overthinking. Additionally, engaging in physical activities or hobbies can divert your mind from spiraling thoughts and instill feelings of accomplishment. Lastly, consider seeking professional help if overthinking starts to interfere with your daily life. Therapy can provide you with tailored strategies to enhance your mental resilience and offer support on your journey to mental clarity.

Also nobody pays as much close attention to you as you think. Most people are so self focused, they’re thinking about the fight they had, a person they miss, the errands for the week, you’re lucky if people listen to 10% of what you say in a presentation.
