what’s your unpopular opinion about dating?
my unpopular dating opinion? That you’ll never be able to have a truly sustainable, compatible relationship without a strong friendship foundation.
you don’t necessarily have to have all the same interests in common, but you need to see eye to eye with humor, personality type, morals, outlook on life, etc imo! My boyfriend and I have been together for 6 years and I practically can’t work from home when he’s home simply because the amount of times we get distracted yapping to each other is crazy lol. Whether it’s laughing over something we both find ridiculous, or going on hour long tangents about random social issues we both agree on, there’s never a boring moment!

Dating often brings varying opinions and perspectives. One common debate is how critical a strong friendship foundation is for a successful romantic relationship. Studies indicate that couples who share effective communication and mutual respect thrive. It’s essential to look for a partner with whom you can share both serious discussions and light-hearted banter—this duality creates a richer connection. With friendships as a base, couples may navigate conflicts better and find more joy in each other's company. Additionally, understanding each other’s values and life goals fosters a deeper bond, making it easier to tackle life’s challenges together. For those seeking to strengthen their relationship, consider engaging in shared activities that enhance your friendship, such as exploring new hobbies or volunteering. Not only does this build trust and camaraderie, but it also adds layers to your relationship that can deepen attraction and affection. Celebrate the uniqueness of your connection and allow it to evolve naturally in a way that honors both the romantic and friend aspects. As you navigate the world of dating, remember that the most enduring relationships often start with solid friendships built on shared values and laughter.

I agree 💯 My hot take: A couple has to WORK to be compatible bc no matter how similar you are, at the end of the day you're still 2 different ppl. There will always be things you disagree on, but compatibility is about adapting to one another's differences. And if you can't adapt, the relationship will suffer (& end)
