Holding On While Everything Feels FragileSoft but

Hello Readers .

Here’s what’s been going on in my life. Early Sunday morning around 1 a.m., I got a phone call from my stepdad. He told me my mom was on the floor and couldn’t walk. The day before, he had already called 911. They took her to the hospital, then sent her back home. Monday, the same thing happened again. In and out. No real answers. Today I’ve been calling and calling. No response. My sister told me my mom fell out of bed last week. She also told me my stepdad is talking about putting her in a nursing home because he can’t physically lift her anymore. On Sunday, I got to FaceTime with my mom. She told me she loved me. She told me she was sorry. That moment is stuck in my head, and from that call until right now, all I’ve been doing is trying to hold myself together. I know I’m strong. I’ve always been strong. But right now, strength looks like pushing myself minute by minute and refusing to give up when everything inside me wants to break. I’m leaning on God the best I can, even when the weight feels unfair and heavy. If anyone is reading this, thank you. Truly.

From my own experience and hearing stories from others, it’s clear that moments like these require immense emotional strength and perseverance. When a parent’s independence is compromised, it brings up a swirl of emotions — worry, guilt, hope, and sometimes helplessness. I remember when my grandmother began struggling to walk after a fall. The decision to consider a nursing home or in-home care was heart-wrenching. We had to weigh not only the physical ability to care for her but also her emotional well-being. It’s common to feel overwhelmed by the constant calls to doctors, hospitals, and caregivers, especially when clear answers aren’t available. These calls, often made late at night or early mornings, become part of daily life. One thing that helped me and many others is leaning on faith or a source of inner strength. Praying or simply taking a moment to breathe deeply and remind yourself that you’re doing your best can provide some calm amid the storm. Even small moments, like a FaceTime call where a loved one expresses love or apology, can linger in your mind and become sources of comfort. Remembering the message from the image, “I LOVE MY Raju MOTHER. TODAY, TOMORROW AND ALWAYS,” underscores how enduring love supports us through fragile times. Expressing love openly, whether through words or actions, can strengthen bonds and provide meaning when days feel uncertain. If you find yourself in a similar situation, try to reach out to others who understand—whether family, friends, or support groups. Sharing feelings and experiences can ease the weight. It's okay to acknowledge that you are struggling and to seek help. Strength is not just about enduring alone but also about allowing yourself to be supported. In the end, holding on during fragile moments is a testament to resilience and love. It’s about pushing forward minute by minute, anchored by hope and connection to what matters most.
