The outfits are definitely inspired by NewJeans. #characterart #digitalart #artistsoflemon8 #artist #drawing
Hey everyone! I’m so excited to share a bit more about the process behind my latest digital art piece featuring Yoonah and Amaya, where I drew inspiration from NewJeans' iconic style. When I first started this project in Sketchbook Pro, I knew I wanted to capture that fresh, youthful vibe that NewJeans brings to their outfits. It wasn't just about copying, but about understanding their aesthetic and translating it into something unique for my characters. For Yoonah, I imagined her with a slightly more playful and chic look. I spent a lot of time browsing different NewJeans stages and music videos, paying attention to details like layering, color palettes, and accessories. You know how they always have those perfect casual-yet-stylish pieces? That’s what I aimed for. I experimented with a cropped top, baggy cargo pants, and a cute puffer vest – trying to find that balance between comfort and trendiness, just like the idols do. It’s tricky sometimes to make sure the outfit not only looks good but also suits the character's personality. Amaya, on the other hand, got a slightly different energy. I pictured her with a more effortlessly cool and streetwear-inspired vibe, still very much in the NewJeans spirit, but with her own twist. Maybe a loose-fitting hoodie, a pleated mini-skirt, and some chunky sneakers. The challenge was making sure both characters had distinct looks while still feeling cohesive as a duo, and both strongly rooted in the NewJeans aesthetic. Finding the right color combinations in Sketchbook Pro was key here; I leaned towards pastel shades with pops of brighter colors, a signature of many K-pop groups. If you're thinking of trying your hand at drawing K-pop inspired outfits, my biggest tip is to start by analyzing. Don't just look at an outfit; try to break down why it works. Is it the silhouette? The fabric choice? The accessories? Then, think about how you can adapt those elements to your own characters. Tools like Sketchbook Pro make it so easy to experiment with different layers and colors without committing to anything too early. I often create multiple layers for different clothing items, so I can easily swap them out or adjust their opacity to get the perfect look. Another thing I've learned on my digital art journey is to not be afraid of references. I had countless tabs open with NewJeans photos while working on Yoonah and Amaya! It helps you get the details right and sparks new ideas. Also, don't forget the power of hashtags like #KpopFashion, #IdolStyle, or #CharacterDesign when looking for inspiration or sharing your own work. It's an amazing community out there for artists who love K-pop! I hope this gives you a little insight into how I bring my character ideas to life and maybe inspires you to create some cool outfits for your own OCs!
