... Read moreEver since I started my journey to healthier, thicker hair, I've been on the lookout for natural remedies that actually work. After countless hours of research and trying different concoctions, I stumbled upon a game-changer: the rosemary and clove hair growth tonic! Seriously, this DIY tonic has done wonders for my hair and even my eyebrows. I was skeptical at first, but the results speak for themselves. My hair feels stronger, looks shinier, and I've noticed significant new growth, especially around my temples where it used to be sparse.
So, how do you make this magical elixir? It’s surprisingly simple! Here’s my go-to recipe:
What you'll need:
A handful of fresh rosemary sprigs (or about 2 tablespoons of dried rosemary)
1-2 tablespoons of whole cloves
Optional: A few cinnamon sticks for added circulation benefits and a lovely scent, and an avocado pit (yes, an avocado pit! It's packed with nutrients for hair).
2-3 cups of filtered water
A pot for boiling
A fine-mesh strainer
A clean spray bottle or airtight container
My simple steps:
Boil the water: Pour your filtered water into a pot and bring it to a rolling boil.
Add the good stuff: Once boiling, add the rosemary, cloves, cinnamon sticks (if using), and your avocado pit (cut into a few pieces) to the water.
Simmer gently: Reduce the heat to low, cover the pot, and let it simmer for about 15-20 minutes. This allows all the amazing nutrients and compounds to infuse into the water. You’ll notice the water changing color and a wonderful aroma filling your kitchen!
Cool down: Turn off the heat and let the mixture cool completely, still covered. This is super important as it helps to further steep the ingredients and prevent beneficial compounds from evaporating.
Strain and store: Once cool, strain the liquid into your clean spray bottle or container, making sure to remove all the solids.
Refrigerate: Store your tonic in the refrigerator. It usually lasts for about 1-2 weeks.
Why these ingredients are my holy grail:
Rosemary: It's a powerhouse for hair growth! Rosemary stimulates blood circulation to the scalp, which encourages hair follicles to get more nutrients and oxygen, leading to new and thicker hair growth. It also has anti-inflammatory properties.
Cloves: Rich in antioxidants and provide a warming sensation that can also boost scalp circulation. They help strengthen hair strands and can even add a lovely natural shine.
Cinnamon Sticks: Not just for flavor! Cinnamon also improves blood flow to the scalp, promoting growth and strengthening roots.
Avocado Pit: Often discarded, but don't underestimate it! Avocado pits are loaded with antioxidants, vitamins B6, C, and E, and minerals like potassium and magnesium, all fantastic for hair health, shine, and growth.
How I use it:
I personally love to use this tonic after washing my hair. While my hair is still damp, I spray it directly onto my scalp and gently massage it in for a few minutes. I don't rinse it out; I just let it air dry or blow-dry as usual. On non-wash days, I sometimes apply it to my scalp and eyebrows in the evenings, leaving it overnight. Consistency is key! I try to use it 3-4 times a week, and that's when I started seeing noticeable differences in hair fall reduction and new hair growth, especially for thick hair and amazing new brow hairs.
If you're struggling with hair thinning or just want to boost your hair's natural vitality, I highly recommend giving this rosemary and clove tonic a try. It’s natural, effective, and feels so good to know exactly what you’re putting on your scalp!
