Thinking about the Hell House film series overall, it’s clear the franchise attempts to balance nostalgia with fresh scares. From my experience, the third installment steps up with more atmospheric shots and creative use of recorded footage from earlier films, particularly the scenes set around the lake. The subtlety in showing figures lurking in the background added to my suspense and kept me watching closely. However, the storyline remained pretty convoluted, which made it a bit hard to fully engage with the plot. I found myself wondering why the filmmakers continue to revisit the same haunted locations instead of closing the chapter decisively. Personally, I’d love to see a fresh approach or a fully standalone story that offers a clear resolution. Perhaps demolishing the old haunted house trope, as hinted in the movie, could be a refreshing direction. For fans of horror trilogies, Hell House 3 provides enough eerie moments and improved visual style to be worth a watch, but I wouldn’t say it’s a must-see masterpiece. If you’re new to this series, starting with the first movie might help you appreciate the references sprinkled throughout this one. Overall, it felt like a decent ending, yet I’m still left wondering if some stories are better left unfinished.
