All the games I played in June 2026

6/29 Edited to

... Read moreJune was a slightly shortened gaming month due to a mental health break, but it brought some exceptional experiences that I’m excited to share further. Starting with Directive 8020, this game quickly climbed to my favorites among Supermassive’s lineup, rivaling Until Dawn with its immersive storytelling and intense stealth gameplay. Unlike other titles from the developer, Directive 8020 places a heavier emphasis on stealth rather than simple survival, which posed a fun challenge even for those not naturally skilled in stealth tactics. The game’s sci-fi horror vibes reminded me of classics like Alien and The Thing, especially with its gripping plot twist that left me truly surprised. The choices you make genuinely impact the story’s direction, adding replay value and depth. In contrast, Shadows of the Damned took me by surprise with its blend of psychological thriller elements and goofy, over-the-top action. This retro discovery has a charm similar to Lollipop Chainsaw, mixing dark themes with humor seamlessly. The hack-and-slash gameplay combined with shooter mechanics felt refreshing and kept combat engaging throughout. Although the game has some technical quirks, such as occasional stun-lock issues and side-scrolling segments, these minor flaws didn’t overshadow how enjoyable the experience was. Its weapon upgrade system is particularly satisfying, enhancing strategic variety in combat. I also experimented briefly with X-Files: Resist or Serve. While it intrigued me as a nostalgic PS2 title, the confusing controls and unclear objectives made it a less enjoyable journey, leading to an early quit. However, it still holds interest for gamers who enjoy investigative gameplay and are patient with older game design. Looking ahead, July promises to tackle shorter games from my backlog to clear the list efficiently. Reflecting on these experiences, balancing intense horror with playful retro titles provides both thrilling and lighthearted moments, giving variety to the streaming content. I recommend players to explore Directive 8020 for a top-tier narrative horror experience and Shadows of the Damned for a wild, energetic retro action fix. Both games showcase how diverse and creative this year’s gaming landscape is, combining strong stories with innovative mechanics. If you follow horror or retro game genres, these June picks are definitely worth checking out for their unique approaches and engaging gameplay.
