Soul Flame-The Split

Experiencing the internal battle between flesh and soul is something deeply personal and often difficult to articulate. This series, beginning with 'The Split,' uses vivid imagery and metaphorical language that resonated with me on a powerful level. Creatively expressing the tension between restraint and release, morality and primal urges, the artwork thoughtful captures the push and pull many face within themselves. Phrases like "I stitch my thoughts with a surgeon's hand" and "I drink restraint like it's novocaine" evoke the painful but necessary discipline required to control destructive impulses. From my own journey, the metaphor of balancing knives on a silver mine illustrates the delicate act of managing conflicting parts of the self—where one wrong move can trigger emotional upheaval. The concept of "splitting the soul" draws parallels to the famed Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde duality, highlighting how internal divisions can challenge our sense of identity and morality. Moreover, the work’s spiritual undertones, referencing God and Jesus, invite reflection on how faith intersects with personal struggles. It reminds me that vulnerability and the acceptance of internal conflict can lead to growth and healing rather than shame.
