The key principle I've embraced is to keep things simple and consistent—focusing on the basics that actually make a difference. In the morning, I sometimes cleanse with just water if my skin feels balanced, adding a vitamin C treatment for its antioxidant benefits, followed by a moisturizer and sunscreen to protect throughout the day. At night, I switch to a gentle cleanser and introduce a retinoid-based treatment to support skin renewal. This approach aligns well with the dermatologist’s framework of 3-4 steps in the morning and about 4 at night. I used to think that layering numerous products would yield greater results, but I found that each product should serve a clear purpose or else it’s unnecessary. Eye creams, for example, are nice but not essential for everyone. Avoiding harsh facial scrubs and toners that act as mere formats rather than active steps has helped prevent irritation. Patience has been an absolute must in my skincare journey—improvements take time and consistent application. Also, personal lifestyle factors like sleep, hydration, and diet significantly impact how my skin responds to routines. Incorporating extras like microcurrent devices or LED therapy can be beneficial but are certainly optional. I recommend mastering the core steps first before adding complexity. Overall, this minimalistic but targeted skincare philosophy has transformed how I approach daily skin health—focusing on what truly works and simplifying the process to reduce overwhelm and maximize results.
