Tried a Lemon8 recipe tonight!
Ok, this rice is AMAZING! I’m three years post op sleeve and I’ve lost 85lbs. I want to lose another 30 because I found out that I will need a new knee eventually. As in the next few years. I can’t stop that from happening, but hopefully I can slow it down! I’m starting with extra protein and fiber to keep me full. I saw another lovely lady post this recipe. Try it! I made a pretty big batch to add to lunches as well, but you can adjust the measurements for however much you want to make. BONE APPLE TEA, BABES!
1 cup of white rice (I used jasmine because it was in the house)
1/2 cup lentils
1/2 cup Tri color quinoa
3 cups of chicken bone broth
Cook like regular! I let mine steam for a few to soften it up a little more.
For anyone on a post-op weight loss journey, especially after a sleeve gastrectomy, focusing on nutrient-dense meals is essential for sustained progress and overall health. This rice dish combines white jasmine rice with lentils and tri-color quinoa, providing a balanced mix of carbohydrates, protein, and fiber. Lentils and quinoa are excellent plant-based protein sources that complement the rice, helping to maintain muscle mass and keep you feeling full throughout the day. Incorporating chicken bone broth instead of water to cook the rice not only adds deep flavor but also introduces beneficial nutrients like collagen and amino acids, which support joint health—crucial for individuals anticipating knee replacement surgery. Collagen can help maintain cartilage quality and joint function, potentially slowing degeneration. Meal prepping this recipe in larger batches is a smart strategy for busy lifestyles, ensuring you have healthy options on hand. Adjusting portions to fit your calorie and protein goals makes it flexible for different stages of your weight loss or maintenance plan. Additionally, steaming the rice mixture after cooking softens the texture, making it more enjoyable and easier to digest. Pairing this recipe with a balanced diet rich in fruits, vegetables, and healthy fats will further aid weight management and joint health. Consistent protein and fiber intake helps prevent hunger spikes and supports muscle repair, especially important after surgery. Remember to stay hydrated and consult your healthcare provider for personalized dietary advice. Overall, this recipe is a delicious, practical addition for anyone looking to lose weight, maintain fullness, and promote knee and joint well-being through wholesome ingredients and mindful cooking techniques.
