The symbolic act of making and eating rice dumplings (zongzi) connects me to tradition and family, while herbal sachets, like those containing wormwood, are believed to protect health and bring calmness. Practicing mindfulness during the festival enhances the spiritual message—cultivating awareness allows us to gain clarity and peace amidst life's challenges. It’s not just about the festivities; it’s a reminder to nurture inner wellness alongside physical health. The festival’s spiritual teachings inspire embracing humility over arrogance and replacing doubt with confidence, which can lead to a more balanced and joyful life. Participating in local dragon boat races or community events further strengthens cultural ties and wellness through physical activity and social connection. To me, the Dragon Boat Festival is an opportunity to blend tradition with personal growth, achieving harmony within and celebrating the vibrant culture.
