what i wish ppl told me about collegeā¦
from my first day of freshman year, to my second semester of junior year, my perspective of college and the things i thought college expected from me has changed drastically. iāve gotten rid of the image that college is āsupposedā to be like the movies, and have created an expectation from college that is unique to ME. what do i want to get out of this experience ? what do i want to learn in and outside of the classroom. partying and having the biggest pregames with the most āfriendsā is not what college is to me. iāve begun to see college as a way for me to become a functioning adult, how to make hard choices, how to have self control, and how to be involved. itās not about how many people are in your circle, but the quality of those friendships. going into the new year and new semester i just want to remind everyone to never succumb to peer pressure and never change who u r for ppl you prob wont remember in 5 years. have a happy new year and safe semester <33

Navigating college can be overwhelming, but it doesn't have to be. Many incoming students often find themselves swayed by the glamorous depictions of college life in movies. However, the true essence of college is about self-discovery and building a foundation for adulthood. One of the first lessons is that having a multitude of friends does not equate to happiness. The quality of relationships often outweighs quantity, and fostering deep connections with a few close friends can lead to a more fulfilling experience. Embrace those who uplift you, rather than those who merely fill a social calendar. Additionally, college is ripe with opportunities. From internships to clubs, students should actively seek experiences that foster their career growth and personal development. This proactive approach not only enhances resumes but also builds confidence and skills that are invaluable in the professional world. Lastly, it's crucial to combat the FOMO (Fear of Missing Out) mentality. The college scene is bustling, and itās easy to feel pressured to attend every event. Remember, there will always be another party or gathering. Prioritize your mental well-being and choose activities that align with your values and interests. Entering a new semester with a positive mindset and personal goals can transform your college journey into a meaningful and authentic experience.
