Phnom Rainbow Stone Castle
💥 Phnom Rung Historical Park or Phnom Rung Castle is a historic park in Thailand under the supervision of the Department of Arts, Ministry of Culture. It is one of the rock castles in the Rajasthan group. It is located in the 2nd village of Don Nong Nang, Ta Pek District, Hom Hom District, about 77 kilometers south of downtown Buriram. It is made up of many important ancient sites. It is located on the top of a completely extinct volcano, about 200 meters above the low ground, or about 350 meters above mean sea level. The word Phnom Rung is from Khmer. The word Waen Nang means Big Mountain.
Phnom Rainbow Stone Castle is one of the most famous Thai Khom stone castles. It is one of the most important tourist attractions of Buriram Province and is also considered an important symbol of Buriram Province.
Phnom Rainbow Stone Castle is a Chaiva Brahmin church. It was originally an island-style art monastery. It was built over several eras. From about the 15th century to the 17th century Buddha, and in the 18th century Buddha, King Jayavarman VII of the Kingdom of Khom turned to Mahayana Buddhism. The temple was converted into a Mahayana temple. In the early days, Phnom Rainbow Stone Castle was built of pink sandstone. It sits on the top of Phnom Rainbow Mountain 1,320 feet above sea level. The name Phnom Rainbow means Great Mountain, presumably built in the 15th-18th century Buddha.
Inscriptions that scholars have read and translated can only conclude that the King of the City (1487-1511), Rajendraman II, established the angel of Shiva at the rainbow, which in the early days was not so great, and then the Lord Jayavarman V (1487-1511). 1511-1544) Dedicated land and slaves to the Phnom Rung. In the 17th century, Narendratit, a master of the Mahithapura dynasty who ruled over this land, the family of King Suryuman II, who built the city of Wat, built this castle and became a yogi at this Phnom Rung castle.
