climb into the crown of the STATUE OF LIBERTY

Statue Of Liberty
1/11 Edited to

... Read moreVisiting the Statue of Liberty and climbing up to the crown is truly a once-in-a-lifetime experience. When planning your trip, it's important to know that access to the crown is limited and requires advance reservations through the National Park Service. Since the climb involves 162 narrow and steep steps inside the statue, it's not suitable for everyone, especially those with mobility issues or claustrophobia. I chose to skip the elevator and take the stairs to fully immerse myself in the journey. The 108-step climb from the pedestal to the crown felt like a challenging, tight squeeze, but reaching the top made it all worthwhile. The panoramic views of New York Harbor, the city skyline, and nearby Ellis Island are absolutely stunning and provide a unique perspective you can't get anywhere else. On the day of the visit, I went through security and boarded the ferry from Castle Clinton, located in Battery Park. This is the departure point for all Statue of Liberty tours. I'd recommend arriving early and preparing to leave any large bags or belongings in lockers or at your hotel because only small items like a phone or camera are allowed inside the crown for safety reasons. If you're visiting during peak tourist season, expect crowds on the ferry and at the pedestal entrance, so patience is key. Also, remember to wear comfortable shoes, hydrate well, and take breaks as needed during the climb. After descending, take some time to admire Lady Liberty from the grounds or nearby walking paths to appreciate the full scale and symbolism of this iconic monument. Overall, climbing into the crown of the Statue of Liberty is a memorable adventure that combines history, physical activity, and breathtaking scenery. For anyone fascinated by this emblem of freedom and resilience, the climb offers a personal connection that enriches your understanding of its significance.
