Watchtower study ☺️

I used to rush through my Watchtower study, feeling like I was just checking off a box. But I've really discovered that truly preparing makes such a difference in how much I get out of the meeting, and more importantly, how much I connect with the material spiritually. Now, I try to set aside dedicated time each week, usually a few days before the meeting, to really immerse myself in the article. It’s become a precious time for reflection and learning, and I’m always looking for new ways to make it even more effective. My first step is always to read the Watchtower study article through completely without stopping. This gives me a good overview of the main theme and points. Then, I go back with a highlighter, but I try to be selective. I focus on key scriptures and sentences that really stand out to me or that I want to remember for personal application. I’ve found that just highlighting isn’t enough for me to retain everything or to truly make it my own, so this is where my trusty notebook comes into play. Next, and this is absolutely crucial for me to deepen my understanding, I make sure to look up every single scripture cited in the article. Sometimes, just reading the verse in context in my own physical Bible helps me grasp a point so much better than simply reading the quote. I keep my physical Bible open right beside my Watchtower, flipping back and forth. I also love to use a Bible app for quick cross-references, especially when a scripture might have links to others I haven't considered before or want to explore further. It’s amazing how much more meaning you can uncover just by doing this. In my notebook, I don't just copy down answers or outline paragraphs. I write down questions that come to mind as I read, personal applications of the principles, and even thoughts on how I might explain a point to someone else. It's truly become my personal Bible journal for the Watchtower. I also jot down any unfamiliar words I need to look up or concepts I want to research further during the week. These handwritten notes make the study feel so much more personal, active, and memorable compared to just passively reading. To make the study truly impactful, I always try to think about how the information applies to my own life and circumstances. What changes can I make? What does this teach me about Jehovah? Is there a point that would be encouraging to a friend? I even try to think of one or two points I’d love to share as a comment during the meeting. Finally, before attending the meeting, I do a quick review of my notes and the article. And of course, I always start and end my study with a heartfelt prayer, asking for Jehovah's spirit to help me understand, retain, and apply what I'm learning. It makes all the difference!
