Hanoi Train Street 🇻🇳 | A Must-Do Experience

Visiting Hanoi Train Street was on my list of things to do in Hanoi, and I’m glad I managed to catch it! 🇻🇳

Tip: ask a local for the train schedule before heading down so you don’t miss it. It’s a little chaotic, but definitely a memorable experience! (especially for first-timers)

One important detail that I found incredibly useful was checking the train schedule through locals or hotel staff. This ensured I arrived just in time for the train, which passes closely and creates an exhilarating scene that lasts only about five minutes. Sitting in one of the many cafes lining the tracks is part of the charm. Although these cafes tend to charge a premium, the real currency you're paying for is the unforgettable experience of proximity to the passing train. On my visit, I enjoyed a refreshing mango smoothie and cheese sticks while waiting for the iconic bell signaling the train’s approach. When the train passed, it was surprisingly near—much closer than I had anticipated, making for an adrenaline-pumping moment and amazing photo opportunities. After the train passed, taking a slow walk along the tracks allowed me to soak in the unique vibes of the area—the mixture of local life, tourism, and urban buzz. The cafes, vendors, and the vibrant energy make the place feel alive. For anyone planning to visit Hanoi, adding Train Street to your itinerary is highly recommended. To enhance your experience, visit during the late afternoon for the 3:20 pm train or later in the evening, as trains are infrequent and timing is key. Also, expect some crowds and a bit of hustle, but that adds to the authentic chaotic charm. Remember to respect local customs and safety guidelines as the train travels dangerously close. Overall, Hanoi Train Street is a memorable and unique travel experience that offers an insightful glimpse into Hanoi's lively street culture and transportation history.
