Vintage Athleisure Looks: travel, gym, errand

The vintage activewear trend has been my favorite thing to lean into this summer because it makes leaving the house in something comfortable look stylish instead of lazy.

outfit 1 is what I reach for on travel days or a slow Sunday. My base is a fitted white tee from Aritzia with these green side-stripe track pants from MINSURE (an Amazon brand). Tuck the tee slightly so the waistband shows, it makes the proportions look more put together.

outfit 2 is my gym-to-brunch look, usually saved for days I want to actually change out of workout clothes. I wore a white tee, green athletic shorts from LAMISSCHE, and a grey sweatshirt over my shoulders. Something about the sporty shorts with a soft sweatshirt feels easy but still cool enough for weekend hangouts.

outfit 3 is my errand-day look for coffee runs and walking around Brooklyn. My base starts with an oversized striped tee with black flare leggings.

whats your go-to athleisure piece right now??

From my experience, one of the keys to nailing that effortless look is choosing pieces that balance functionality with retro-inspired design elements. For instance, track pants with a side stripe not only bring back that vintage vibe but also add a sporty edge that works perfectly for travel or relaxed Sundays. In addition to aesthetics, layering is essential in athleisure. I've found that tossing a soft sweatshirt over my shoulders, like in the gym-to-brunch outfit, immediately elevates an otherwise simple ensemble. It’s also practical for fluctuating temperatures, whether indoors or outdoors. Athletic shorts can easily transition from workout mode to social settings when paired with the right top and accessories. When running errands or grabbing coffee, oversized tees combined with leggings are my go-to. The key here is choosing flare leggings to add a touch of flair to the outfit, making it less about just comfort and more about an intentional, stylish choice. This balance of vintage activewear is what makes it so appealing — it allows you to look polished while staying relaxed. For anyone diving into vintage athleisure, I recommend scouting for brands that mix quality basics with nostalgic details like stripes, color blocking, or retro logos. These subtle nods to past trends keep the look fresh and unique. Lastly, don’t underestimate the power of fit—tucking in your tee just slightly shows off your waistline and instantly sharpens your silhouette. What’s your favorite athleisure piece right now? Whether it's vintage track pants, a classic white tee, or comfy flare leggings, adding your personal touch to these timeless styles makes all the difference.
