I’ve been working in corporate for the last seven years. Before that I was in a more of a just administrative role but still associated with the corporate. So I guess in total it’s been over a decade. I started when I was 19 and I’m now 30 going on 31. I work in payroll, which is the branch of HR with ties to finance. I really enjoy my job and even though my current job isn’t very formal I still like to get dressed up every once in a while. This is one of my favorite outfits to wear, it’s super comfy, classic And it just makes me feel good. #CorporateGirlie#Outfit#comfy#work#storytime #lemon8contest

... Read moreYou know, when I first started my journey in the corporate world over a decade ago, the term 'corporate girlie' wasn't really a thing. But now, I absolutely embrace it! For me, it's more than just a job; it's a lifestyle that balances professionalism with a touch of personal flair and comfort. Having spent years climbing the ladder in payroll, which sits at that fascinating intersection of HR and finance, I've learned so much about what it truly means to thrive in this environment. It's about being sharp, adaptable, and finding joy in the daily grind, even when numbers are staring you down!
My career started when I was just 19, and watching myself grow into the professional I am today has been incredibly rewarding. There are definitely days when the corporate world feels demanding, but the problem-solving, the team collaboration, and the satisfaction of ensuring everyone gets paid correctly keep me engaged. It's not always formal suits and stiff environments anymore, which is great because it allows for more personal expression through fashion.
Speaking of fashion, finding the perfect 'corporate girlie outfit' is key to feeling confident and comfortable. My go-to look, like the one with my black and white houndstooth top and classic black pants, is a perfect example of what I mean by a comfy, classic corporate outfit. It's breathable, doesn't wrinkle easily, and looks polished without feeling restrictive. I often snap a quick mirror selfie to check the full look before heading out, making sure I feel good from head to toe. For me, comfort doesn’t mean sacrificing style. It’s about investing in versatile pieces that can be dressed up or down. Think high-quality knitwear, tailored trousers with a bit of stretch, or chic midi skirts paired with comfortable block heels or stylish flats.
Beyond that specific outfit, I've built a small capsule wardrobe for work that focuses on versatility. A well-fitting blazer is a must – it instantly elevates any outfit. I also love mixing textures, like a silk blend blouse with wool trousers, to add interest. And accessories! A statement necklace or a classic watch can tie everything together. The trick is to find pieces that transition effortlessly from a busy day at the office to an evening dinner or even a casual Friday. Learning to layer is another game-changer, especially for adapting to varying office temperatures. A lightweight cardigan or a stylish scarf can be both practical and fashionable.
Ultimately, being a 'corporate girlie' for me is about owning my professional journey, enjoying what I do, and expressing my personality through my work and my style. It's about finding that sweet spot where ambition meets authentic self-expression, making every day in the corporate world feel a little more 'me'.
