Motherhood Unplugged: 3 Things No One Tells You 🫠🫣
Motherhood is a wild, beautiful, exhausting, and deeply rewarding journey. When my daughter was born, I thought I had a good idea of what to expect. Six years later, I’ve learned that no amount of reading, advice, or preparation can truly capture the experience. Here are three motherhood truths I’ve come to embrace:
You Will Question Yourself—A Lot
No matter how much love and effort you pour into parenting, there will be moments of doubt. Am I doing enough? Am I too strict? Too lenient? The truth is, there’s no perfect way to mother. Each child is different, and what works for one might not work for another. The important thing is that you’re showing up, loving them fiercely, and doing your best—and that’s more than enough.
The Mess Is Forever (And That’s Okay)
I used to think that once my daughter got older, life would be less chaotic. Spoiler alert: it’s just a different kind of mess. The toys might be smaller, but they’re everywhere. The spills might be less frequent, but the attitude? Oh, it’s in full force. Learning to embrace the chaos has been a game-changer. Some days, the laundry can wait, but the snuggles and laughter? Those moments are fleeting.
Your Patience Will Be Tested—Daily
Before becoming a mom, I thought I was a patient person. Then my daughter hit the “Why?” phase, and I quickly realized patience is a skill you develop through trial by fire. Whether it’s negotiating about wearing FUNKY socks, waiting for them to tie their shoes when you’re already late, or listening to a six-minute explanation of a dream they had, motherhood will stretch your patience in ways you never imagined. And some days, you’ll lose it—and that’s okay. Apologizing and showing them how to handle emotions is just as valuable as staying calm. I am not perfect, but always learning!
Motherhood changes you at your core. You become stronger, more resilient, and more aware of what truly matter! Give yourself some grace 💓 #motherhoodrealtalk #motherhoodconfession #mommylifestyle #motherhoodunderstood #motherhoodjourney
Motherhood is an unpredictable and transformative experience, often filled with moments of joy, frustration, and profound love. Many first-time moms enter this journey with high expectations and an array of advice from books and well-meaning friends; however, reality can be quite different. One of the first lessons mothers often encounter is the pervasive self-doubt that creeps in. This can manifest as questioning whether you're doing the right thing or comparing yourself to other parents. It’s important to acknowledge that such feelings are normal, and every mother’s experience is unique. Embracing your journey with compassion for both yourself and your child is key. Another crucial aspect of motherhood is learning to accept the mess. Children have a way of bringing joyful chaos into your life. Whether it’s toys strewn about the house or food splatters on the walls, it can be overwhelming. However, learning to let go of the need for perfection allows you to cherish the special moments of laughter and play that fade all too quickly. Prioritizing time spent with your child over maintaining an immaculate home can create a more joyful environment. Lastly, practicing patience is vital in parenting. From negotiating outfit choices to listening to animated stories, children can test your patience like never before. Instead of becoming frustrated, use these moments as opportunities to teach emotional intelligence and problem-solving skills. Remember, it’s okay to not have everything figured out. Motherhood teaches you resilience and growth in the most challenging of times, revealing strengths you never knew you had. As you navigate these challenges, remind yourself that you’re not alone—many mothers share similar experiences and feelings.
