Replying to @Ivan Some parts of the video have some missing info, so here it is.

I gave her full control over the transfer of money, because I stupidly trusted her, and from this I learnt that I can and should be the one authorising the transfer.

When we reconnected, she told me she was having some issues with her marriage. She called us and told us something happened at home. They went back to an empty house.

My whole family went around looking for essential items to send to her house so that they are able to sleep at least for that night. Immediately after the call, we delivered her mattress, stove, mini fridge, and clean sheets to sleep first.

Moral of the story is, you need to look at who to trust… till date I am still having trust issues, and I don’t know how to explain it to you, but that feeling sucks… totally sucks.

When I first started my business, I, too, trusted someone implicitly with financial transactions, thinking it would ease my workload and strengthen our friendship. However, I quickly learned that giving full control without checks can lead to disastrous consequences. One crucial lesson is never to give anyone complete control over your business funds without a clear authorization process. I now always review and approve all transfers personally to prevent any misuse. This empowerment not only protects the business but also helps maintain peace of mind. Another aspect I struggled with was the emotional toll of realizing a trusted friend could betray you. The erosion of trust extends beyond financial loss; it affects your ability to trust others in both your personal and professional life. In dealing with such situations, seeking support from family and friends becomes essential. In my case, my family immediately stepped in, helping provide essential items to the affected friend in difficult times, which reminded me to separate the person’s hardships from their actions. Furthermore, the experience highlighted the importance of swift action. When I found out about the theft, I made a police report right away and took measures to secure my accounts. This decisiveness is critical in limiting damage and recovering losses. Lastly, while money can reveal the worst in people, it also teaches resilience. Despite many sleepless nights and mental exhaustion, the experience strengthened my resolve to build my business with stronger safeguards and reinforced my understanding that trust must be earned, not given blindly. For anyone running a business, remember to protect your financial assets vigilantly and foster transparent communication with those you work closely with. It’s a hard lesson, but one that ultimately leads to greater confidence and security in your professional journey.
