Hyperbaric Chamber Fail, Infrared Sauna Win! 🔥🫣

So, I went to Restore to try out the hyperbaric chamber for the first time. I was super excited to experience it, but things didn’t exactly go as planned. As soon as the pressure started to increase, my ears just wouldn’t cooperate—they refused to depressurize! I tried everything, but it got so uncomfortable that I had to get out almost immediately after getting in.

But, silver lining! I decided to spend time in the infrared sauna instead. That turned out to be an amazing experience—so warm and relaxing, it completely turned my day around. Sometimes, self-care is about adapting when things don’t go as planned!

... Read moreIt's so easy to get caught up in the hype of new wellness treatments, and my recent hyperbaric chamber attempt was a perfect example of how things don't always go as planned! My ears simply refused to depressurize, turning what should have been a relaxing session into quite a stressful ordeal. If you're considering a hyperbaric chamber or even flying, dealing with ear pressure is a common challenge. Learning how to properly 'equalize' your ears is key. Simple techniques like the Valsalva maneuver (gently pinching your nose and trying to exhale through it), yawning widely, or swallowing repeatedly can often help open those Eustachian tubes. Chewing gum can also be surprisingly effective! It's super important not to force it, especially if you have a cold or allergies, as that can lead to discomfort. Always listen to your body and communicate with the staff if you're at a wellness center. I learned the hard way that sometimes, despite your best intentions for a single session, your body just isn't having it! However, my pivot to the infrared sauna was a total game-changer. After the initial disappointment, stepping into that warm, enveloping heat was pure bliss. Infrared saunas work differently than traditional saunas, using light to create heat that penetrates deeper into your body, rather than just heating the air around you. This means you can experience a more intense sweat at a lower temperature, which I found much more comfortable. The benefits are amazing: I felt a deeper sense of relaxation, my muscles unwound, and I even felt a gentle detoxification happening. Many people swear by them for improved circulation, stress reduction, and even better skin clarity. It's a fantastic way to support your overall well-being, especially when you need a mental and physical reset. Often, centers will offer a 'Single Session' to try it out, but if you love it, looking into a '5-Pack' or even a '10-Pack' can be much more cost-effective for regular self-care. Building on the light-based therapy, I've also been curious about 'Red Light Therapy' – something I noticed was offered at the same center. While distinct from an infrared sauna, Red Light Therapy uses specific wavelengths of red and near-infrared light to stimulate cellular processes. It's been gaining popularity for a variety of reasons, from boosting collagen for skin rejuvenation and reducing fine lines to aiding in muscle recovery and even offering relief for certain types of pain. For those dealing with ongoing fatigue or looking for ways to boost their energy, some individuals explore Red Light Therapy as a complementary approach to support their cellular health, which can be particularly intriguing for anyone researching 'red light therapy for me/cfs.' It's not a cure, of course, but it's another tool in the wellness toolkit that focuses on natural body processes. Sometimes, these treatments are even offered with a 'booster' component, or you can combine them with other services like a 'Hydrafacial' or 'lymphatic therapy' for a comprehensive wellness experience. It just goes to show that while one treatment might not work out, there's a whole world of self-care options out there waiting to be discovered!
