When I was planning my shoot, I knew I wanted something unique and memorable, and the ocean just called to me. If you're envisioning those perfect beach graduation pictures, hereโ€™s how to make them happen. First, timing is everything. We aimed for a late afternoon session to catch that magical 'golden hour' light, and honestly, it made all the difference. The sunset reflecting on the water created such a beautiful, soft glow in every shot. For outfits, I opted for a flowy white dress. It looked incredible against the blue ocean and allowed for graceful movement, especially when I was running barefoot into the water with my black graduation cap! Having a second outfit, maybe a more casual one or your actual black graduation gown and cap, can give you a nice variety of looks. Don't forget your blue graduation cap with its yellow tassel and your dark diploma cover โ€“ these are essential props! Now, for those iconic poses: Writing in the sand: This was one of my favorites! Kneeling on the sandy beach and writing '2023' (or your graduation year) felt so personal and symbolic. Itโ€™s a classic for a reason. Cap toss: Of course! Tossing your cap in the air with the vast ocean and sky as your backdrop is a must. We got so many fun action shots this way. Walks and runs: Just walking along the shore or even running playfully into the calm water created such candid, joyful moments. It felt so freeing! Sitting gracefully: Find a nice spot, maybe near some interesting rocky beach formations, and sit down to capture a more contemplative vibe. Prop play: I brought a beautiful bouquet of colorful flowers, which added a lovely pop of color. You can hold them, place them in the sand near your cap and diploma, or even use them to cover your face for a whimsical shot. We also found a pretty plumeria flower on the beach, which looked perfect next to my cap and diploma. Don't be afraid to get a little wet or sandy! Some of my favorite shots were when I was walking barefoot into the water in my gown. These are memories youโ€™ll treasure forever. Think about personal touches too โ€“ maybe a special book or a small memento that represents your journey. Finally, communicate with your photographer. Tell them your vision for these beach graduation pictures and share any specific pose ideas you love. They can guide you on the best angles and light. Remember, these photos are a celebration of your hard work and a beautiful start to your next chapter. Enjoy every moment of creating these stunning memories by the sea!
