When people ask about her breed, their eyes widen in surprise – it's certainly not a combination you hear every day! I've had her since she was seven weeks old, and every year with her has been a delightful discovery of her unique heritage.
Living with a Corgi Husky Dachshund mix means you get a fascinating blend of personalities. From the Corgi, I see her playful nature and that distinct stubborn streak, often accompanied by a low-to-the-ground waddle that's just too cute. The Husky influence brings a boundless energy and a vocal side; she loves to 'talk' and express herself with various howls and whines. Then there's the Chow's loyalty and sometimes aloof independence, making her a dog who chooses her close connections carefully but is fiercely devoted to her family. And finally, the Dachshund's bravery and strong prey drive mean she's always alert, ready to investigate any rustle in the bushes, and surprisingly courageous for her size. It's a challenging but incredibly rewarding combination, creating a dog with a truly one-of-a-kind character.
Physically, Nana is a marvel. She sports a dense, fluffy double coat, inherited from her Husky and Chow lineage, which requires regular grooming but is incredibly soft. Her legs are shorter, a clear nod to her Corgi and Dachshund ancestry, giving her a distinctive, sturdy build. Her markings are a beautiful mix, reflecting the rich tapestry of her genetic background. She's a medium-sized dog, compact and muscular, and often turns heads wherever we go because of her unique appearance.
When it comes to care and exercise, this mix demands attention. The Husky in her means she has significant energy to burn, so daily long walks, playtime, and even some puzzle toys are essential to keep her mentally and physically stimulated. I've found that she thrives on routine and enjoys exploring new places, but also loves a good cuddle session on the couch. Training has been an ongoing adventure; the intelligence from the Corgi and Husky is there, but so is the independent streak from the Chow and the stubbornness from the Dachshund. Consistency, positive reinforcement, and a good sense of humor are key!
While mixed breeds can often be healthier, it’s always wise to be aware of potential health considerations from the parent breeds. For example, with the Dachshund influence, I always pay attention to her back health, ensuring she doesn't jump too much or put undue strain on her spine. Regular vet check-ups are always a priority to ensure she stays happy and healthy.
Having a Corgi Husky Dachshund mix like Nana has taught me so much about adaptability and unconditional love. She's a constant source of joy, laughter, and occasional mischief. If you're considering a unique mixed breed, be prepared for a dog with a huge personality and a heart full of love. It’s been an amazing eight years watching her grow and discovering all the wonderful quirks that make her, truly, one in a million.
Welcome! Can’t wait to see more from you in the future💛
