My Favorite Mercury Dime⦠So Far
I already have several Mercury Dimes in my collection from different years and mints, but this 1934 has quickly become my favorite example in my collection.
Fun fact: Despite the nickname āMercury Dime,ā the coin doesnāt actually depict the Roman god Mercury. Itās Lady Liberty wearing a winged cap, with the wings representing freedom of thought. The design was introduced in 1916 and remained in production until 1945 before being replaced by the Roosevelt Dime.
Another fun fact: Each Mercury Dime is made from 90% silver, so every one of them contains a little piece of precious metal history in addition to its beautiful design.
Itās easy to see why this design remains a favorite among collectors, and this 1934 has become my favorite Mercury Dime in my collection.

I really like the Indian head penny. Have two 1862 and 1896. Got both as change as a kid. I also think the Indian head/ buffalo back nickel is one of the best American coins ever produced.
