Skin transformation ✨🥰🌸
Skincare Update 🤍
After my dad passed away, my skin went through it. I’ve always been fortunate to have relatively low-maintenance skin, so dealing with breakouts like this was completely new for me. By December, I knew something wasn’t right and started trying to figure out what was causing it.
At the time, I was washing my face 2–3 times a day with a tea tree oil cleanser, which ended up damaging my skin barrier. Once my skin started peeling and looking like snake skin, I knew I needed to simplify my routine and focus on repairing my skin instead of throwing more products at it.
Then, after getting engaged, I had even more motivation to stay consistent because I wanted to feel confident in my skin heading into my wedding year.

It’s not perfect, but it’s healthier, calmer, and moving in the right direction.🤍

Experiencing skin issues can be really tough, especially when your skin has always been low-maintenance. I realized how important it was to avoid over-cleansing and harsh ingredients after damaging my skin barrier with multiple washes a day of tea tree oil cleanser. This type of cleanser, while antimicrobial, can sometimes dry out or irritate sensitive skin when used excessively. Simplifying my skincare routine was crucial. Instead of trying numerous products, I focused on gentle hydration and barrier-supporting ingredients. Using a water rinse in the morning helped maintain natural oils, while incorporating The Ordinary Azelaic Acid provided benefits like reducing inflammation, fading dark marks, and improving texture. Consistency was key to seeing progress over months. I also switched to moisturizers known for repairing and strengthening the skin barrier, such as CeraVe’s PM and the La Roche-Posay SPF moisturizer, which offered hydration and protection without clogging pores or causing irritation. These products contain ceramides and niacinamide, nutrients essential for restoring the skin’s protective layer. Another lesson I learned is that healing skin takes time and patience. Results from December through June showed significant improvement, but perfection wasn't immediate. Tracking progress with photos helped me stay motivated and aware of how my skin was responding. For anyone facing a similar skin transformation, I recommend paying attention to your skin’s reactions, avoiding over-cleansing, and focusing on rebuilding your skin barrier with gentle, effective products. These actions can calm breakouts, reduce peeling, and lead to healthier, more resilient skin in the long run. Finally, mental health also impacts skin health. Stress from life changes often reflects in our complexion. Taking care of emotional wellbeing alongside skincare can amplify positive results.
