Double Flip
Double Kickflip #kickflip
Hey everyone! So, the DOUBLE KICKFLIP. It's one of those tricks that feels impossible until, suddenly, it clicks. When I first started trying, it felt like my board just didn't want to spin twice, no matter how hard I flicked. But after countless tries and a few bruised shins, I finally got it, and I wanted to share what truly helped me. First off, make sure your single kickflip is solid. You need that muscle memory down before adding the second rotation. For the double, foot placement is key. I found placing my back foot a bit more towards the tail pocket, almost like I'm trying to scoop it, gave me a more powerful pop. My front foot was a little further back on the board than for a single kickflip, with my toes hanging off just a bit – this gives you more leverage for the flick. Now, the pop and flick. This is where the magic happens. You need to pop HARD. Seriously, put all your energy into that pop. As the tail hits, your front foot needs to flick aggressively off the nose. For a DOUBLE KICKFLIP, the flick isn't just a gentle brush; it's a powerful scrape upwards and outwards, almost as if you're trying to kick the corner of the nose and pull your foot away quickly. The speed of your flick dictates the rotation. It's a quick, successive motion: pop, then flick, almost simultaneously. Catching the board is another challenge. After the two rotations, you need to bring your feet back onto the bolts. I found it helpful to keep my eyes on the board throughout the entire motion. Once you see it complete the second rotation, extend your legs to absorb the landing. It takes commitment, and you'll probably land with one foot or miss it completely many times, but don't give up! Some personal tips that really helped me: Commitment is everything: Hesitation will lead to bailing. Tell yourself you're going to land it, and commit fully. Film yourself: Watching slow-motion replays of your attempts helps you pinpoint exactly what you're doing wrong – maybe your flick is too weak, or your pop isn’t high enough. Warm-up: Before trying the double, I'd always do a few regular kickflips and ollies to get my body ready. Practice on grass or carpet first: This takes away the fear of falling and lets you focus purely on the footwork and flick motion. Landing a DOUBLE KICKFLIP feels incredibly rewarding. It's a testament to patience and perseverance. Keep practicing, stay positive, and you'll get there!
