... Read morePumpkin Pie Squares are a delightful twist on traditional pumpkin pie, offering an easy-to-make and portable dessert option that’s perfect for gatherings or everyday treats. The recipe starts with a buttery crust made by combining yellow cake mix, melted margarine or butter, and eggs, which is pressed into a greased 13x9-inch baking pan for a firm yet tender base. The filling is a creamy mix of canned pumpkin combined with pie seasonings, slightly beaten eggs, and milk, which lends a rich texture and the familiar warm flavors of pumpkin spice. What makes this dessert stand out is the crumbly topping. By reserving one cup of the cake mix and mixing it with sugar, melted butter, and cinnamon, you get a sweet, crispy layer that bakes to perfection over the pumpkin filling. This crunchy topping balances the smooth filling and buttery crust, creating an irresistible combination of textures in every bite. For those who love the aroma and taste of cinnamon, you can adjust the spice amount to your preference—adding more cinnamon enhances the cozy, warming spice profile that complements the pumpkin beautifully. Baking these squares at 350°F for about 50 minutes ensures that the crust firms up and the filling sets properly without cracking. Storing the Pumpkin Pie Squares in the refrigerator after baking helps them firm up further and makes them easy to slice into neat bars. They can be served chilled or warmed slightly before eating, and they pair wonderfully with whipped cream or a scoop of vanilla ice cream for an indulgent dessert experience. This recipe is versatile, quick, and requires minimal ingredients, making it ideal for busy home cooks seeking a tasteful fall-inspired dessert. Plus, the use of yellow cake mix streamlines preparation, allowing anyone to create a homemade dessert without hassle. Whether for Halloween, Thanksgiving, or a cozy autumn evening, Pumpkin Pie Squares are sure to delight friends and family alike with their tender crust, creamy filling, and scrumptious crumb topping.
