Creamy Italian Dressing
I cannot stress enough how much better homemade salad dressings are and they are so easy and quick to make! Not to mention you’re also skipping all the extra preservatives and crap they add to those dressings. I’ve added recipes for honey French, thousand island, and now creamy Italian. Once you start making your own, you will never buy it in a bottle again. Add in homemade croutons (posted the recipe for this too) and you have restaurant quality salads!
1 tsp garlic powder
1 tsp dried oregano
1 tsp dried basil
1 tsp sugar (can use sugar alternative if you like)
1/2 tsp onion powder
1/2 tsp crushed red pepper flakes
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp black pepper
1/2 cup mayo
1/4 cup apple cider vinegar
3 Tbsp extra virgin olive oil
Mix seasonings together, add in mayo, vinegar, and olive oil, mix everything together. Let chill overnight so flavors can mingle. Store in fridge.
I've always found that making salad dressings at home not only tastes better but also gives me control over what goes into my food. This Creamy Italian Dressing is a perfect example—using simple pantry staples like garlic powder, oregano, basil, and apple cider vinegar you can whip up something fresh and vibrant in no time. One tip I've learned: letting the dressing chill overnight really enhances the flavors. The garlic, herbs, and spices mingle beautifully with the mayo and olive oil, creating a rich and well-rounded taste. I usually prepare this dressing the night before and store it in a glass jar in the fridge. If you want to customize it, try adding a bit of freshly grated Parmesan cheese or a dash of lemon juice for extra brightness. Also, homemade croutons complement this dressing perfectly—making your salad taste like it came from a restaurant. Aside from the great taste, making your own dressing means you avoid unnecessary preservatives and sugars commonly found in store-bought bottles. This not only makes your salad healthier but also fresher tasting. Plus, it’s very economical. In my experience, having this creamy Italian dressing handy inspires more creative and healthy meals. Whether drizzled over mixed greens, used as a dip for veggies, or tossed with pasta salad, it adds a delicious Italian flair without the hassle. Give it a try, and you’ll soon agree that homemade dressings like this Creamy Italian are far superior to anything available pre-made. Your salads will never be the same!
