Okay now this one right here caught my attention

Just look at this cover… baby it’s already giving dark, creepy, and something not right.

From what I’m hearing, The Mortal Affairs deals with the darker side of human choices — secrets, temptation, and the kind of decisions that can open the door to things you probably should’ve left alone.

And that quote on the cover says it all:

“Some hearts are the hardest to protect when darkness comes calling.”

See now THAT right there already got me nervous 😭

So this one is definitely going on my TBR list, but I need to know first…

Is this one of those books that’s gonna have me

📖 up at 2am

📖 questioning everybody in the story

📖 and looking over my shoulder while I read?

Because if it is… I might have to read this during the daytime only 😅

Readers tell me the truth…

Is this book actually as dark as it looks? 👀📚

... Read moreReading a thriller like The Mortal Affairs can be an intense experience, especially if you enjoy stories that delve into the complexity of human nature and the darker side of choices. From personal experience, books that tease with quotes such as “Some hearts are the hardest to protect when darkness comes calling” usually pull you deep into the psychological tension of the characters’ worlds. The Mortal Affairs seems to tap into themes of secrecy and moral temptation, which creates an atmosphere of suspense and intrigue. If you're anything like me, a book that challenges you to question every character's motives and keeps you looking over your shoulder while you read is pure gold. These kinds of dark fiction novels often blur the lines between right and wrong, forcing readers to confront uncomfortable truths alongside the protagonists. This is especially compelling when the story includes moral dilemmas that feel all too real. I’ve found that books like this are best enjoyed with some daylight—there’s something about reading a thriller in the bright light of day that tempers the creepiness just enough to keep it thrilling but not overwhelming. Plus, it’s easier to catch all the subtle clues and plot twists when you’re fully alert. For fellow readers torn between diving into a dark novel and the fear of not getting enough sleep, The Mortal Affairs seems like it fits the bill perfectly. It’s the kind of book that sparks late-night reading sessions, making it hard to put down because every chapter reveals new layers and unexpected secrets. Overall, if you’re assembling your TBR list, I’d say don’t miss this one. It’s ideal for anyone who loves #darkfiction and #booktokreads, and who thrives on stories that not only entertain but make you think about the consequences of human choices long after the last page.
