🩸✨ A magical HBCU. A mysterious murder. And a campus full of supernatural beings hiding secrets.

The First Family pulled me in almost immediately. What starts as a murder mystery quickly turns into a story filled with magic, family dynamics, supernatural politics, and twists that kept me wanting to know what was going to happen next.

What I loved most was the world-building. The author created a unique setting where vampires, werewolves, witches, and other supernatural beings coexist, and it made the story feel fresh and different from the fantasy books I’ve read before.

If you’re looking for a book where the plot takes center stage, this is definitely one to check out. The spice is there, but the mystery, drama, and magical elements are what really shine.

Reading The First Family truly immersed me in a world I hadn’t seen before—a magical HBCU where the campus buzzes not just with students but with a variety of supernatural beings. What stood out most was how the story never felt predictable; the blend of murder mystery elements with supernatural politics kept me on edge. The setting of Ravenwood University felt richly detailed, with factions like the Veritas, Sanguis, and Honor weaving a complex tapestry of loyalty and betrayal. The inclusion of vampires, werewolves, and witches coexisting seamlessly added depth to the narrative, making the fantasy elements feel authentic and layered. I even felt the tension of trying to guess who to trust, given the tagline “Trust No One.” It made every revelation feel impactful. The subtle but effective use of family dynamics gave the characters a realistic emotional depth that heightened the stakes. If you enjoy stories where magic is more than just a backdrop and mystery drives the plot forward, this book is a perfect choice. It balances suspense, fantasy, and a touch of romance without letting the spice overpower the core story. Plus, the attention to world-building at a historically Black college adds a fresh perspective that enriches the paranormal genre.
