I was walking around Far East Plaza to compare prices for a gel pedicure so I could get a better sense of the market rate. I stopped outside one shop to ask the staff about their prices when the lady boss suddenly started calling me “darling” and welcoming me very warmly. 🤨🤨🤨I wasn’t alarmed at first, as I assumed this was normal customer service (FYI, I’m just a normal girl trying to get her toes done).💅🏻💅🏻💅🏻
While answering my questions, she slowly pulled me into the shop, and at the same time, signaled her staff to turn on the foot bath (the basin used before treatments). 🚩🚩🚩 I clearly told her that I was only checking prices, but she began overwhelming me with color sample books and signaling her staff to prepare all the tools to start work.🙂↔️🤯😵💫
By the time I realized what was happening, everything was already set up.😪😪😪😪😪😪
She then quoted me a total price of $63, ❗️❗️❗️😡🤬 which included the removal of gel on two toes. Honestly, based on my experience, this price felt very unreasonable for a gel pedicure. 👎🏻🙅🏻♀️🙅🏻♀️ I immediately wanted to leave after hearing the price, but she started guilt-tripping me, saying that the water had already been prepared.🙄😒🙄🙄
At that point, I felt extremely uncomfortable and scared. I was the only customer in the store, and there were around 4–5 staff members around me. I felt pressured and didn’t know how to respond.
After seeing my reaction, she lowered the price to $55, which I eventually gave in to. Just like that, I walked into a situation I didn’t agree to and unwillingly spent a large amount on a gel pedicure that would usually cost around $30 elsewhere.😮💨😪🤧😪

Please make sure to ask all your questions before stepping into the shop, and only enter if you are fully comfortable and have decided to proceed. Don’t put yourself in a situation where you may feel pressured later on.‼️‼️‼️
