I used a passport cover to make my own planner.
I got a passport cover for Christmas 🎄, wasn’t using it. I saw on TikTok people showing their cool planners and went on the website it was very very expensive for me. Plus I needed a planner for my small farm to manage the expenses, income and balance. I had the 🔐 and monogram strap that came with a purse I had and wasn’t using it. The weight of the lock holds it in place. I got the passport size notebooks 📔 on Amazon. Do you think 🤔 this was okay to do or not? I’m sure the passport cover is not real and I don’t care 🤷♀️. I got it as a gift from my relatives. But it’s cute 🥰.
Using a passport cover as a planner is a clever and economical way to stay organized, especially if you’re managing a small business or personal finances like on a farm. I personally tried a similar approach by repurposing a small leather case I had at home, which saved me from buying expensive planners with limited customization options. What I found particularly useful is choosing passport-sized notebooks because they fit perfectly and are portable, making it easy to carry around wherever you go. You can divide the notebooks into different sections such as income, expenses, crop tracking, and balance sheets—just like I did—and customize each section with tabs or color coding for easy reference. The weight of the lock or clasp, as mentioned, helps to keep everything secure and prevents the planner from opening unintentionally. I also recommend using monogrammed straps or decorative bands to add a personal touch and make your planner unique. If you run a small farm or any small business, this planner system keeps all your important financial records in one place without the hassle of digital apps or large binders. Plus, it’s satisfying to see your handmade planner evolve over time with your input and creativity. For anyone hesitant because the passport cover isn’t authentic, like me, it really doesn’t matter—the function and personal value outweigh brand concerns. Overall, DIY planners like this combine practicality with a bit of creative fun. They’re especially great gifts or project ideas when you want to organize life without overspending.
