From Designer Labels to Bespoke Luxury

I did a side-by-side comparison of an authentic Louis Vuitton monogram bag and a high-tier replica.

What surprised me most wasn’t which one was real… it was how well made the replica actually is. The leather isn’t plastic or synthetic — it’s real vachetta. It’s newer, so it hasn’t developed patina yet, but over time the color will naturally change.

This made me reflect on how much the luxury market has evolved. Replicas today are produced with impressive craftsmanship, and many luxury brands themselves are producing at very large scales. It made me question what “luxury” really means to me now.

If you asked me today whether I would personally buy another Louis Vuitton bag, my honest answer would be no — not because I dislike the brand, but because luxury, to me, is shifting toward smaller, bespoke, and quantity-controlled brands where craftsmanship and uniqueness feel more personal.
