But even when we're weary, the encouragement and comfort we need are readily available, especially through the timeless wisdom of the Bible. It's not about finding instantaneous solutions, but about cultivating a spirit that allows "the work must continue" even amidst struggles. For me, truly embracing the message of 2 Timothy 4:5 – "BUT YOU YOURSELF MUST CONTINUE TO THINK SERIOUSLY AND CLEARLY. BE PATIENT AND BRAVE WHEN TROUBLES COME. CONTINUE TO TELL THE GOOD NEWS ABOUT CHRIST TO PEOPLE. DO ALL THE WORK THAT GOD HAS GIVEN YOU TO DO AS HIS SERVANT" – has been transformative. It's a reminder that even when things are tough, clarity of thought and a patient, brave heart are essential. When I feel overwhelmed, I often take a moment to reflect, clearing my head to understand what God might be calling me to do, rather than rushing into things. Patience, for me, comes from the deep knowing that "TROUBLE DOESN'T LAST FOREVER." This isn't just a hopeful saying; it’s a foundational truth that helps me endure. Beyond just reading verses, I’ve found that truly internalizing them makes all the difference. Take Psalm 34:18: "THE LORD IS CLOSE TO THE BROKEN HEARTED AND SAVES THOSE WHO ARE CRUSHED IN SPIRIT." This isn't just a beautiful phrase for a "psalm 34:18 wallpaper"; it's a living promise. When my spirit feels crushed, or my heart is broken, I repeat this verse to myself. It grounds me, reminding me that I am not alone and that my pain is seen. Similarly, John 14:18 – "I WILL NOT LEAVE YOU COMFORTLESS: I WILL COME TO YOU" – offers a profound sense of presence. In moments of deep loneliness or anxiety, this verse is a personal assurance that comfort is on its way, or indeed, already here. And then there’s 2 Timothy 1:7: "FOR GOD GAVE US A SPIRIT NOT OF FEAR BUT OF POWER AND LOVE AND SELF-CONTROL." This verse is my personal anthem against anxiety. Whenever fear tries to take hold, I actively choose to embrace power – the power to act thoughtfully; love – choosing compassion for myself and others; and self-control – guiding my thoughts and reactions. It's a daily exercise, but it shifts my entire perspective, helping me to keep going on this daily journey, knowing that I have divine strength within me. Engaging with the Bible in this way, not just as a book but as a personal source of power and comfort, truly makes it a safe place for my soul.
