Places I ate out this week as a college student🍔
This week I was traveling and also went to a birthday dinner!!! This is not a typical week for me but every week looks so different. I 100% recommend all of these places as they are all college student budget friendly💕🌯
As a college student, I totally get the struggle of wanting to eat out and explore new places without completely blowing your budget! This week was a bit unusual with travel and a birthday dinner, but it really got me thinking about what truly makes a restaurant 'student-friendly.' It's not just about the price, though that's a huge factor! For me, a student-friendly spot ticks a few boxes: 1. Budget-Conscious Prices: This is non-negotiable. We're talking meals that are often under $15, sometimes even under $10. Places that offer good value for money, like generous portions for a reasonable cost, are winners. Think about places where you can get a satisfying meal without feeling guilty later. 2. Convenient Location: Is it close to campus? Easy to get to after class or during a study break? Accessibility is key when you're juggling classes, clubs, and maybe a part-time job. 3. Casual Vibe & Quick Service: Sometimes you just want to grab a bite with friends, or you're on a tight schedule between lectures. Fast-casual spots are perfect for this. No need for reservations or fancy dress codes – just good food and a relaxed atmosphere. 4. Student Discounts & Deals: Always, always ask! So many places offer a student discount if you show your ID. Look out for lunch specials, happy hour deals, or even loyalty programs that can save you a few bucks over time. Speaking of great finds, places like In-N-Out Burger are legendary for a reason. Where else can you get delicious, classic burgers and golden fries that hit the spot without emptying your wallet? It's a go-to for a quick, satisfying meal. Similarly, local burrito and taco joints are often student havens. I recently tried a foil-wrapped burrito and an iced coffee from a place like Barista Del Barrio, and it was perfect for a busy day. The great thing about burritos and tacos (like the ones from El Camino with their amazing three tacos, refried beans, and rice) is how customizable and filling they are – you get a lot of bang for your buck! And don't even get me started on the joy of finding a spot like Maggie's that does amazing avocado toast garnished with lemon and cilantro, alongside a tasty burrito. It feels like a treat but is often surprisingly affordable. Here are a few more tips I've picked up for making your dining experiences more budget-friendly: Look for Lunch Specials: Often, the same meals are much cheaper at lunchtime than at dinner. Happy Hour Hopping: Many restaurants have great deals on appetizers and drinks during what's usually referred to as "happy hour." Share with Friends: If portions are huge, split an entree with a friend to save money and reduce waste. Loyalty Programs: Sign up for rewards programs at your favorite spots. Freebies and discounts add up! Water is Your Friend: Ordering water instead of soda or other drinks can seriously cut down your bill. Balance with Home Cooking: I try to cook some meals at home during the week, so I can enjoy eating out guilt-free on other days. It’s all about balance! Finding great student-friendly restaurants is part of the college experience. It’s about discovering delicious food that fits your lifestyle and your budget. Happy eating, fellow students!
