French Toast no measure recipe.
My go to for making a weekend breakfast for my family. I enjoy when I can make food that doesn’t need measurements. Especially on a slow morning.
INGREDIENTS
•Bread(a French loaf gives a firm edge and a soft center, but any bread is actually fine.)
•Eggs (one per person or per 2-3 bread slices.)
•Milk (you can use dairy, almond, coconut, evaporated.)
•Spice such as cinnamon or nutmeg, it’s optional of course.
•Vanilla extract (I have to brag that one of my brothers made me some homemade vanilla extract for Christmas. I don’t usually purchase true vanilla extract because of the price. I also learned how easy it is to make so will do it in the future.)☺️
•Cream Cheese (optional of course just spread in center.)
TOPPING IDEAS
•Jam or jelly
•Syrup of any kind
•Fruit
•Powdered sugar

One of the best things about this no-measure French toast recipe is how flexible it is, making it perfect for both beginners and seasoned cooks who want a relaxed cooking experience. I’ve found that using a sturdy bread like a French loaf adds a nice contrast of textures, giving you a slightly crisp edge while keeping the middle soft and custardy. However, you can really use any bread you have on hand—even slightly stale bread works beautifully because it soaks up the egg and milk mixture better. For the soaking mixture, the method of one egg per person or per 2-3 slices of bread is really convenient and avoids the hassle of measuring out exact quantities. I like to add a splash of vanilla extract to the egg and milk mix to bring a subtle aroma and sweetness to the toast. If you don’t have vanilla on hand, cinnamon or nutmeg can add warm spices that elevate the flavor. Making your own homemade vanilla extract, as mentioned, is a game-changer and quite simple—just soak vanilla beans in vodka for a few weeks. Cooking on medium to medium-high heat with butter ensures the outside gets a golden crust without burning. Covering the pan slightly helps cook through evenly and makes flipping easier. Also, spreading cream cheese inside the toast before cooking creates a delicious surprise filling that pairs wonderfully with homemade strawberry jam or any fruit preserves. Topping ideas are endless—maple syrup and powdered sugar are traditional favorites, but fresh fruit like berries or banana slices add freshness and a healthier touch. This recipe is not just easy but also invites creativity, encouraging you to customize with whatever ingredients you have. Overall, this no-measure French toast approach removes stress and brings joy to family breakfasts, making weekend mornings special without intensive prep or precise measurements.
