CNA 8hr or 12hr Shifts which is better be fr !?
Story time so I have been a in Knoxville for 6 months now working as CNA and honestly… the difference between Washington state and Knoxville uuh Shocked me!!
Back in Washington, Most Job pay $25 - $30/hr but in Tennessee even the highest i have seen is around $21/hr and most facilities still wants 12hr shifts Lawwwd !!!🥴
I don’t mind long shifts but after day 3,yet school is waiting i be tireed oh My feet be hurting crying for help and at the end of the day the cheque aint checking 🤧🤑🤣
Washington definitely had the better balance and pay
Don’t tell me that life in Tenesse is cheaper that Washington ain’t gonna lie i don’t see any difference the bills are still there and i still spend almost same as Washington the difference is very little.
So I’m very curious
What’s your hourly rate and shift setup where you live?
Would you pick 8 hours × 5 days or 12 hours × 3?
Drop your city & rate 👇 I wanna compare I just wanna see Where to Move After im done with school here in Tennessee i like the city and the people but the BREAD 🥖 IS NOT Giving 🤣🤑

Choosing between 8-hour and 12-hour CNA shifts is a significant decision that affects not only your paycheck but also your overall wellbeing. Many CNAs working 12-hour shifts appreciate having four days off each week, which allows for longer periods of rest or pursuing other interests. However, the extended hours can lead to increased fatigue, sore feet, and reduced energy levels, especially after consecutive days. On the other hand, 8-hour shifts usually provide a better daily rhythm, making it easier to manage family responsibilities and attend school or other commitments. Working five days a week can feel more balanced, though it means fewer full days off compared to 12-hour shifts. Regional pay differences also play a big role in job satisfaction. As shared, CNAs in Washington state can earn between $25 to $30 per hour, whereas in Tennessee, even the highest hourly rates hover around $21. Despite Tennessee’s reputation for a lower cost of living, many CNAs find that bills and expenses remain similar to those in higher-paying states, leading to financial stress. It's important to weigh these factors carefully when deciding where to work. For CNAs considering relocation, Seattle offers competitive wages but may have a higher cost of living, while Tennessee provides a warmer climate and a friendly community but with comparatively lower pay and predominantly longer shifts. Networking with other CNAs in various cities to compare hourly rates and shift preferences can provide more clarity. Ultimately, the best schedule depends on personal preferences, energy levels, and lifestyle. Some find the intensity of 12-hour shifts manageable with sufficient rest days, while others prefer the steady routine of 8-hour shifts. Listen to your body and consider your responsibilities outside of work to choose what suits you best. If you’re balancing school alongside your CNA job, shorter shifts might help avoid burnout, whereas if you value more days off to recover or focus on personal priorities, 12-hour shifts could be advantageous. Sharing your experiences and hearing from fellow CNAs about their hourly rates and shift patterns can also guide your decision about where to work or possibly relocate after completing your education.

I was hospitalized for one month, and then gone to a care facility for a month after last November-January (and two years before that). I appreciate all the great CNA’s I’ve had. Thank you so much for your HARD WORK and support! It’s not easy! ❤️❤️❤️
