I got into A Crash..!🚘💥

Story time… I need y’all’s advice. 🚗🥲

This is my first Accident I was driving from Atlanta to Dallas, TX when I got into a car accident on the highway in Mississippi.

Thank God, nobody got hurt. The police came, made an accident report, and that was it. Neither of us got a ticket.

My car has some damage, but the other driver’s car only had a broken taillight. He was actually really nice about the whole thing, and I don’t even think he reported it to his insurance.

Now I’m not sure what I should do. Should I let my insurance fix my car, or should I just pay for the repairs myself?

My biggest concern is whether my insurance premium will go up if I file a claim.

What would you do if you were in my situation? Has anyone been through something similar? Did your insurance rates go up after filing a claim?

I’d really appreciate any advice. ❤️

... Read moreExperiencing my first car accident was definitely a stressful moment, especially since it happened on a busy highway in Mississippi while traveling from Atlanta to Dallas. Fortunately, no one was injured, and the other driver was very understanding, which helped reduce the tension. Since then, I’ve been weighing the pros and cons of filing an insurance claim versus paying for the repairs out of pocket. From what I’ve learned, filing a claim might lead to an increase in your insurance premium, which can sometimes cost more over time than the repair itself. On the other hand, paying for repairs yourself avoids that risk but could be expensive upfront depending on the damage. It’s important to get an estimate before deciding. I also found that some insurance policies offer accident forgiveness for first-time claims, which means your premium might not increase right away. Checking with your insurance agent about your specific policy terms is really helpful. Additionally, filing a claim provides a formal record which could be useful if further issues arise. For anyone else going through a similar situation, I recommend documenting everything carefully: take photos of the damage, exchange information with the other driver, and keep copies of the police report. This documentation can be crucial if disputes or insurance questions arise later. Ultimately, the decision to file a claim or pay out of pocket depends on your car’s repair costs, your insurance policy details, and your financial comfort. Sharing experiences like these helps clarify what to expect. If you’ve dealt with insurance premiums rising after an accident or handled repairs yourself, your advice would be really appreciated!

As an auto adjuster if the damages are below deductible don’t do it secondly if it’s the other persons fault file on their carrier not yours

Well who was at fault? If the other driver was at fault file against his insurance if it was your fault but it’s only a mirror that was damaged that’s only a couple hundred dollars fix it yourself and save the insurance cause yes it will go up
