Most of my adult life has been a battle with self-esteem and fully embracing my sexuality. On the outside, I know I might seem confident, but the truth is, I’ve struggled internally for years. It’s taken countless hours of therapy and soul-searching to get to where I am today.

Looking back, I can see how far I’ve come. My career in healthcare has played a huge role in shaping who I am. It’s taught me the importance of empathy and the value of truly seeing people—not just their illness, but their humanity. I’ve made it my mission to bring kindness and compassion into every interaction. I believe it’s the least I can do for my patients.

Now, at 49, I reflect on the blessings in my life. I’ve been fortunate enough to travel the world and experience places I once dreamed of visiting. And yet, some of my most cherished moments happen right here at home. When I sit in my living room and gaze out at the Empire State Building, Chrysler Building, and the Vanderbilt, I often have to pinch myself. How did I get here?

The truth is, I’ve worked hard. Life hasn’t been easy—health challenges, self-doubt, and countless obstacles could have held me back. But instead of letting those struggles define me, I’ve let them teach me.

Today, I live with no regrets. I’m grateful for this life, for the lessons I’ve learned, and for the chance to be here—still growing, still striving, and still embracing every opportunity. I may not have always believed in myself, but now I know: I am a lucky guy beyond belief.
