Handsome? Yay? Nay?
The handsomist BOI! Wearing his GP Duett saddle for the first time since he was GELDED! I had to borrow a girth, because he got PHAT, naw, he just grew out in his 6 year old year. Horses often get wider between 6 and 8 as the finish out their growth. His 46 inch girth didn't fit anymore... I think the one I borrowed was a 50 inch. I will be taking out a 48 and a 50 inch next time that are mine to see which works best with this saddle and I'm in the process of seeing how he lunges in it.
When determining your horse's handsomeness, it's essential to consider various factors, including conformation, coat condition, and overall demeanor. A well-fitted saddle can enhance your horse's appearance and performance, so understanding girth sizes is crucial. As horses mature, particularly between the ages of 6 and 8, their bodies can change, often getting wider. This is a natural part of their growth process, and adjusting your saddle accordingly is vital for both comfort and function. To find the right girth size, measure your horse's girth circumference at the widest point, typically behind the elbows. Use this measurement to select an appropriately sized saddle girth. Borrowing different sizes, as mentioned in your experience, is a great way to determine what works best for your horse. Don't forget to also assess the tree width of the saddle, ensuring it complements your horse's build. Visit your local saddler or equestrian store for expert assistance and to try out various saddles. Remember, a well-fitting saddle not only looks good but also supports optimal movement and performance, keeping your horse happy and healthy.
