Halloween > Summer
Is anyone else already counting down the days until Halloween, even though it's still officially summer? I know we're supposed to be soaking up the sun, enjoying those long beach days, swimming, and maybe even getting a tan (or avoiding one, haha!), but honestly, my mind is already in full spooky season mode. While I do enjoy aspects of summer like no school and camping trips, there's just something undeniably magical about autumn and everything Halloween brings. For me, the thought of hoodie weather, pumpkin patches, and sipping on those special Starbucks drinks (you know the ones!) is far more appealing than any tub top or poolside relaxation. Don't get me wrong, I appreciate a good summer festival, but nothing compares to the anticipation of a good haunted house or planning the perfect costume. So, if you're like me and find yourself dreaming of "Halloween in the summer," you're not alone! How do we cope? I've found a few ways to inject some spooky spirit into these warmer months. For starters, scary movies are always in season, no matter what the temperature is outside. Dim the lights, grab some popcorn, and pretend it's a chilly October night. You can also start planning your Halloween parties early – brainstorming themes, decorations, and costume ideas. This way, you're channeling that excitement without entirely skipping summer. Another fun idea is to get a head start on some DIY Halloween crafts. Maybe you can create some spooky art or start working on props for your yard. Even though it's not quite hay ride weather yet, you can still visit local antique shops or flea markets for unique, vintage Halloween finds. And why not treat yourself to an early autumn-inspired drink from your favorite coffee shop? It might not be the real fall air, but it certainly helps set the mood. I also love to browse online for new costume ideas and dream about trick or treating routes. It's all about embracing that inner fall enthusiast, even if the calendar says otherwise. Who knows, maybe we can start a "Summerween" tradition of our own – a little preview of the best season to come!
